Seo Jaehee

The extraordinary talent of Seo Jaehee has been discovered by Professor Kim Yeongdong, one of the most authoritative voices in Gugak (traditional Korean Music).

When she was still in elementary school she watched one Pansori performance and from that moment on she knew that she wanted to become a Soriggun, the one-man performer of the art of Pansori.

Or maybe it's in the air, because she was born in the region of Jeollanam-do where Pansori orgininates from. During her studies she was always practicing under a waterfall to be able to sing over the noise of the gushing waters.

Jaehee has already won numerous awards (one of which is an award at the prestigious Bosung Festival) and despite her young age she can sing the whole opera of Heungboga, which is a solo performance that can last up to four hours.

Korea Uncovered is proud to present Seo Jaehee to headline 'Herbstmondnacht (Autumn Moon Story)' this September in Essen and Berlin.
